Well done Tuai for doing such a good job at Felix Road! We achieved planning permission for Tuai to convert a charming old brick bakery into a new dwelling. You can read all about that stage in a previous blog post here.
The interior design has an industrial feel that is balanced with warm Moroccan-inspired elements such as the netting chill-out area over the void and the patterned steel panelling of the beautiful steel staircase. The power-floated concrete floor is the best I have ever seen.
Tuai really knows his stuff about low impact retrofit and new build projects and having worked for Greenheart Sustainable Construction for many years. It has been a pleasure to work with him on this project and others. The project features wood fibre insulation on the internal walls, MVHR and an ASHP. The roof was replaced and filled with blown cellulose insulation.
We also secured planning for a garden studio at the far end of the garden. Tuai built this first to then use as a workshop to help build the house. The studio features birch plywood interior panelling throughout with beautifully executed shadow gap details.
Externally, the studio is clad in larch timber cladding painted black which looks striking against the exiting brick walls. Tuai also built a natural pool for early morning swims! What a great idea.
